لبنان کے نامور شاعر ، ادیب اور مصور جبران خلیل جبران (1883-1931)سے اُردو پڑھنے والے پوری طرغ شناسا ہیں ۔ وہ لبنان کے ایک گاوں میں پیدا ہوا۔ والدہ اورچند دیگر رشتے داروں کے ساتھ بارہ برس کی عمر میں وہ امریکہ چلا گیا۔ اس نے یورپ کی بھی سیر کی۔ آخر نیویارک میں مقیم ہو کر ادب و فن کی خدمت میں مصروف رہا۔ 1920ء میں مقیم عرب ادیبوں اور شاعروں نے رابطہ قلمیہ قائم کیا۔ اس کی بے شمار تصانیف ہیں ۔ جو اُردو میں بھی شائع ہو چکی ہیں ۔ تحریر کا اسلوب بائیبل سے ملتا جلتا ہے ۔ خیالات و افکار میں تصوف اور فلسفے کا رنگ غالب ہے ۔استعارے اور تشبیہات بکثرت استعمال کیے گئے ہیں۔ رابعہ بک ہاوس نے خلیل جبران کی تخلیقات کا اُردو ترجمہ اہتمام سے شائع کیا ہے ۔ جسے پڑھنے والے ہمیشہ سراہتے ہیں ۔

Gibran Khalil Gibran (1883-1931), a well-known Lebanese poet, writer and illustrator, is a well-known Urdu reader. He was born in a Lebanese village. He moved to the United States with his mother and a few other relatives at the age of twelve. He also toured Europe. After settling in New York, he was engaged in the service of literature and art. In 1920, Arab writers and poets established a correspondence. He has written many books. Which have also been published in Urdu. The style of writing is similar to that of the Bible.
